CART was created to help transport cats out of Central Arkansas by finding destination partners and handling the transport specifics (without any cat intake) for local rescues and shelters. It became clear in CART’s second year that these opportunities could be shared outside Central Arkansas with rescues and shelters that have transport expertise and capability – and need. By collaboration and teamwork more animals (including dogs) could be saved through transport!

In January 2023, CART formed the Arkansas Rescue Transport Coalition (ATRC) with 5 original members:

  1. Cat House Palooza, Fort Smith
  2. Humane Society of Rogers
  3. The Artemis Project, Fort Smith
  4. Community Cats of Central AR, Jacksonville
  5. Stop Animal Cruelty of Hot Spring and Garland Counties, Malvern

The purpose of the ATRC is to collaborate and share opportunities to transport rescue animals out of Arkansas’ shelters and rescues to similar facilities in other states.
